Skylark Tollers
Dogs that hunt....naturally!
Laurie Geyer
laurie@skylarktollers.com
Skylark Tollers is located in North Dakota, where we use our dogs to
hunt upland game.  I have been a member of the US Toller club for 21
years, owned Tollers for 20 years and have been breeding them for 16
years.  I started showing dogs as a teenager and have been a member
of my local kennel club for almost 30 years.  I enjoy showing our dogs in
conformation and obedience, and have started agility,  but their main
reason for being is to hunt!  Occasionally we have puppies, and it is our
goal to produce Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers that have the
hunting ability and structure to go a day in the field, and the
temperament to be loving and beloved family pets.  Temperament and
health are so important to us, and our puppies are raised in the home
and underfoot.  To meet our dogs and hear our philosophy, click on "Our

February 18, 2015  I know I'm behind in updates, but the information on Available Dogs and Puppy Plans is up to date!  As time allows, I will be
updating the rest of the site.

April 8, 2014  I've added some links to albums for my upcoming litters on the PUPPIES page.  I'm very excited about both of them!  There should
be some really nice working pups with good structure and temperaments and I'm starting to interview prospective homes now.

April 2014  I recently became aware of some adult Tollers who will be looking for families to call their own.  Contact the US Toller Club Rescue to
    find out more information. http://nsdtrc-usa.org/about/rescue/

2014----time for a new puppy in the house....we welcome Vermilion Skylark The Natural to the family.  "Hobbs" comes from very special parents.
His mom is a very accomplished dog and also a top-producer, and she is the second ROMX dam in the history of the breed.  NSDTRC-
US/AKC/Can  CH Vermilion's Option Card CD WC ROMX "Teaser".  His dad is the legendary handsome boy from Down Under, BIS BISS Am GCH
Can NSDTRC-US CH Fionavar Javahill Topgun Am Can CD WC VC Can ROM Am ROMX  "Maverick".  This little guy has big shoes to fill....and
he is showing that he certainly has the attitude to succeed!

November 13 2013---  Song had 8 puppies!  Five boys and three girls and all are doing well.  This litter combines some of my favorite dogs in the
pedigree.  Three of the four grandparents are top producers in the breed, and the sire Cruz is a family dog who is used for hunting upland and
waterfowl.  Both parents are show Champions and they compliment each other well.

October 2013----   I realize this website is long overdue for an update! But that will take time, so for now please excuse the dust and enjoy what
info you find.   I have updated the Puppies page.....and if you have any questions about anything feel free to email me and I'd be willing to
answer any questions or fill in any missing information.

Super exciting news!!!!Can CH Lennoxlove Encore At Skylark "Corrie" makes breed history by becoming the first ROMX female in the
breed!  The Register of Merit Excellent award is given based on having offspring earning titles in the show ring, field and other dog
events.  Corrie's offspring racked up a huge number of points, with many earning the highest level titles in their venues.  And Corrie
was also the Rising Star Award winner of 2011 based on her being tied for the top-producer of champions and then the performance
titles earned that year by her kids broke the tie.  Again so very many thanks to the owners of those "pups" who are out there having
    fun and earning titles!

Exciting news....Can CH Lennoxlove Encore At Skylark, "Corrie" is tied for the top Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever dam of 2010 with
4Champion offspring!  The offspring are GCH Skylark's Trick Or Treat "Trick"  and CH Skylark's First Fox "Zorro" both owned by me,

following offspring earn titles in 2010:  HR Skylark's Repete Adventure MH OA AXJ NF RN WC "Blitzen" earned his AKC Master Hunter title
owned, trained and handled by Mary de Lamerens.  NSDTRC/AKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Dove And Ducks JH WCX VC "Kit" also earned his WCX

by Maureen Baumtrog earned her RA, AX, AXJ and OF in 2010.  Many thanks to the owners of those "pups" who are out there having fun and
    earning titles!

AKC Silver Medallion for Owner-Breeder-Handler  I was awarded this honor for being the breeder/owner/handler of 5 dogs who earned their
AKC Championships from the Bred-By Class.
Invitiations to 2010 Eukanuba Invitational Show:  Four Skylark Tollers were invited to the Eukanuba Invitational Show.  Due to our
circumstances this year, I did not attend, but it was an honor to have so many dogs qualify for the invitational show.

And so this year comes to a close....from the tragedy of losing our home, the wonderful friends (and strangers) who came to our aid in our time
of need, the challenge of finding a new place to live and adapting to it (dogs did much better than humans...), and the pride that comes with
seeing how a spunky little dog named Cricket and then her half-sister Corrie has had such an influence on the breed in just the last year.
"Skylark" would be nothing without those two dogs, and so we are, as always, grateful to Marile and John for such a wonderful start.  And thank
you to all who were out there competing with your Skylark dogs, or hunting with your dogs, or just loving your dogs as pets.  Here is to many
wonderful things to come in 2011.....

12-14-2010  After a tragic and trying year, I am finding a way to update my website.....there is much unreported dog news, but that will come at a
later date.  This year was not the one I had hoped for, with us losing our house to a fire in March.  Thankfully all the humans, dogs and cats got
out and no one was hurt.  Much of the rest of the year has been spent dealing with all that comes with such an event....temporary housing,
house hunting, adapting to new house, buying everything (which is not really as much fun as some might think....). I did make time to get away to
some dog shows, the dogs were able to get in a little pheasant hunting in the fall, and so in that regard, we are trying to keep things somewhat
normal.  I can't begin to express how thankful I am to all who helped us deal with the tragedy.  Friends are simply wonderful.  As I go forward from
this place in my life, things will be different, but I am surrounded by my dogs, and my dog friends, and so life will be OK.

1-14-2010  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Here is to a great year.  2009 was very difficult and challenging as my mother went into a nursing home, and
then my father-in-law also went into a nursing home and passed away.  And we lost Corrie.  It seemed like that cast a pall over the whole year.
Some Skylark dogs did some great things and as always, I was very proud of them.  I just was negligent in reporting them.  We added a new pup
to the family, Song, who is a daughter of Pete, granddaughter of Ray and great-granddaughter of Aker, so here's to a new beginning and a
    great year to come!

7-29-2009  WAY overdue on my reporting here, and there are some great new titles to acknowledge but for now the more immediate news...we
lost Corrie to cancer in the end of May.  She was a great dog, the leader of our "pack", the self-appointed "mother" to any and all puppies that
graced our presence here, and the dam of many fine offspring.  There is no way to measure our loss.

And on a happier note, we have new puppies!  Sydney had a litter for us (a daughter of Aker and Murphy) and you can see pictures and details
about the parents here.  One female pup may be available.
And Corrie's daughter Sunny just had pups born last week, sired by our Ray!  Pictures and some details here.  We are taking reservations on
    this litter now.

3-14-09  Oh WOW again!  Blitzen and Mary earn their second AKC Master Hunter leg!  And the judge's had nice things to say about this dog
and his handler.  And the best part....Blitzen is Mary's first field dog and she has trained him and handles him herself!  I am so happy that Mary
and Blitzen have become such a great team.  Wonderful accomplishment and teamwork, Mary and Blitzen!

3-8-09  Wow....we can't be more proud of this duo...Blitzen and owner/trainer/handler Mary DeLamerens earned the first leg of Blitzen's AKC
Master Hunter title!  It's not an easy task and quite an accomplishment for someone who is training their first field dog!  Blitzen is a son of Pete
and Corrie, and is officially known as Skylark's Repete Adventure RN SH NA NAP NF WC VC!  They have also earned the club HOT Dog Award
and Evelyn Williams Award of Excellence.  Great work Mary and Blitzen!

2-14-2009  Ecco is adding to her long list of titles, or adding higher level titles at least...she earned her CDX (Companion Dog Excellent)
obedience title and agility title Excellent FAST!  Owner Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco are a great team!  Ecco is the daughter of Pete and Corrie
and her official name is now
U-CH UCD SHR Skylarks Dejavu All Over Again CDX RAE MX MXJ XF OAP OJP CGC TT NSDTRC-USA WC VCX Evelyn Williams Award of
Excellence EAC O-OJC OCC WV-O TG-O O-TN-N VerN C-BSA C-BTA C-BSLA.  Congrats and we are in awe, Maureen and Ecco!

12-6-2008  PJ (Skylark's Cause For Applause) finished his AKC Championship today with a BOS over a top-ranked Special, and he finished with
4 majors and from the Bred-by Class!  His co-owner Lauri (and he lives with her) passed the BRT with him earlier in the year so he is also a
NSDTRC-USA Champion as well!  We are so glad Lauri and Mark Reiter would share him with us for dog shows. PJ is a handsome boy!  And as
sweet as a dog can be, when he doesn't have a tennis ball in his mouth that is!  At the same show, our young Zorro (Skylark's First Fox) was
Reserve Winners Dog as well to a major.  It was a great day for us!

11-18-2008  Murphy's pups have mostly gone to their new homes.  And Lilly's pups have moved in with us.  They are a bunch of tough active
pups!  They were unfazed by the move, and now we'll spend time working with them and getting to know their individual personality traits.  I can
tell there will be some good working prospects in this litter!  Some new pictures can be seen here

10-19-2008  Ecco earns another title!  I have trouble keeping up but the new title is an agility one, MXJ (Master Excellent Jumpers With Weaves)
and more MACH pts as well.  She is UKC CH Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again CD RAE AX MXJ OF OAP OJP CGC TT WC VCX plus more agility
titles and she is owned, trained and partner of Maureen Baumtrog in CO.  Great job, girls!

10-3-2008  Lilly had six fat pups born in Woodbury MN!  Four boys and two girls.  Pictures can be seen here.

9-14-2008  Under the full Harvest Moon, Murphy had her puppies!  Seven new little "lunatics" join us, four boys and three girls.  Pictures can be
seen here.  And now older and cuter, pictures also here.

9-6-2008  Casey earns her UKC SHR title in fine style at a difficult test, only 12 of 26 passed and Casey was one of them!  Great job Casey and
owner Debbie Russell!  And Debbie has trained Casey by herself with all positive methods.  We are so proud of this team!  Casey is now SHR
Skylark Star's Case In Point FMX WC (AKC Major Ptd).

8-12-2008  I can't believe I forgot to report that Casey earned her WC at the Backyard Classic!  I got to see her do it even and was so proud of
how well Debbie and Casey did.  Casey also got an honorable mention in the Steady Challenge competition.  She also has 3 legs on her UKC
Started Hunting Retriever title and needless to say, is enjoying the field work!  Casey is also an awesome flyball dog.  She is Skylark Star's Case
In Point FMX WC, owned and trained by Debbie Russell.  Great teamwork Debbie and Casey!

8-10-2008  Quite a few things to report....Vixen (UKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Crimson Encore RA WC VC CGC) and Ryan McMaines earned their first
Junior Hunter pass with nice scores from the judges.  Great teamwork Vixen and Ryan!  Sister Ecco earned her UKC SHR title and her first JH
pass as well.  Ecco has so many titles it's hard to remember them all!  Owner Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco make a wonderful team to watch!
Curry (Int'l CH Skylark's Mercury Rising CDX JH WCI FMX VC CGC) and Dan Rode earned her WCI title.  Very nice Dan and Curry!  Curry's
daughter Snap (Water's Edge Snap To It WC) and Chive's daughter Ice (Water's Edge Diamond Mine WC) earned WCs as well.  A great
weekend for Dan and his girls!

8-3-2008  A couple of Rally results from the weekend.  Vixen (UKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Crimson Encore RA WC VC CGC) finished her RA title with a
2nd place in her class, and housemate Jet (UKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Breaking'Mach One RN CGC) earned a Rally Advanced leg with a first place
and his first time off leash!  Vixen is handled by Sandie McMaines and Jet is handled by Jeff McMaines.  Great job guys!  Also my little Kicks pup
was Best of Breed from the puppy class under judge Keke Kahn.  Kicks was a naughty pup in the ring but Ms Kahn liked her anyway.  Kicks is
    Water's Edge Skylark Frozen Assets.

7-26-2008  Two new Skylark WC's!  Both dogs owned by Jen and Mike Coffey in Colorado, Skylark's Come And Go Molly WC CGC "Molly" and
Skylark's Dove And Ducks WC CGC "Kit" both passed the Working Certificate test in great style!  Congratulations Jen and Mike and Molly and
    Kit!

7-24-2008  Some exciting news from some talented Tollers...Ecco (UKC CH Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again CD RAE AX AXJ OF OAP IJOJP CGC
TT WC VCX plus more agility titles) got her Versatility Excellent Certificate from the NSDTRC-USA!  Great work Maureen and Ecco!  And despite
having very few opportunities to get qualified this year, both Ecco and Blaze are in the top 25 Agility Tollers for AKC!  Blaze is #20 with only two
trials in Excellent B to get qualifying points from.  Blaze is Skylark's Blaze Of Autumn RN AX AXJ AF CGC and is owned by Donna Murdoch.  Very
nice, Donna and Blaze.  And Ecco, Blaze and Chili (Vermilion Skylark Fiery Spice CDX RN AX AXJ OAP OJP WC) all have MACH points now!

7-13-2008  A very special day for a "family" of Skylark Tollers!  Especially special to me, Sam (new CH Skylark's Winning Colors) finished her
AKC Championship with several majors.  She is one dog who just can't stand wrong, and moves like a dream, and is just so cute!  We are very
happy to have finished her out of the Bred-by class.  And we got news of her sister Ribbon earning her Canadian Junior Hunter title with style!
No surprise she is again breaking land speed records on her way out and back with the bird!  And to top off the family news, the mother of both
Sam and Ribbon, "Teddy" (Skylark's Witchy Woman) gave birth to 6 new full siblings (sired by CH Reddog's Peerless Parker CD JH WC TDI)!
    Pictures here...

7-12-2008  Jet (UKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Breakin'Mach One RN CGC) earned his first UKC Started Hunting Retriever pass!  Well done Sandie
    McMaines and Jet!

6-15-2008  WOW!  I'm still on Cloud 9 from being able to watch this team have such a great win!  Chewy (CH Skylark's Spice Drop Kid) and
owner Vicky Spice-Dalgren were Best of Breed at the supported entry Backyard Classic show in IL, with an entry of over 40 Tollers!  And they
went on to earn a Group 4th in the Sporting Group!  It is a huge show win for such a nicely presented young dog.  Chewy is not even two years
old yet!  Congratulations to Chewy and owners Vicky and Harold, and we expect many more such wins from this handsome boy!

6-13-2008  PJ  (Skylark's Cause For Applause) passes the BRT (Basic Retrieving and Tolling Test) at the Backyard Classic field tests and he's
only been swimming three times in his life!  He shows TONS of natural ability!  His owner Lauri Reiter handled him in the field an this is her first
try at such a thing as well.  We couldn't be more proud of this pair!  Great job PJ and Lauri!

6-4-2008  I'm a bit behind on some news...  I'll try to catch up a bit.  This weekend at an AKC show, "Ray", NSDTRC/AKC CH Vildandens Radon
Af Nischi WC was Best of Breed over an entry of 11 Tollers, including 3 other Specials!  We have not had any shows in the area since January
so it was nice to get some dogs out and see how they looked!  At the same show, "PJ" , Skylark's Cause For Applause, earned 6 points toward
his Championship so now he sits at 13 points, with 3 majors.  Sister "Sam", Skylark's Winning Colors,  also picked up another 4 point major so
they both have 13 points!  Within the last 3 months or so, "Jet", UKC/Int'l CH Skylark's Breakin'Mach One RN CGC has earned his UKC
Championship!  Great job Sandie McMaines and Jet!  "Casey", Skylarks Star's Case In Point FdCH, earned a UKC Started Hunting Retriever
pass!  Congrats Debbie Russell and Casey!  "Blaze", Skylark's Blaze Of Autumn RN AX AXJ AF CGC earned some agility titles with great
placements and also passed her CGC!  Wonderful news, Donna Murdoch and Blaze!  Sister "Chugach" also earned her first flyball titles and is a
real speed demon!  Well done, Amanda Brandt and Chugach!  I'm sure I'm missing some news and I'll catch up as I remember.

4-6-2008  WOW Blitzen is now an AKC Senior Hunter!  Officially he is now known as...
Skylark's Repete Adventure SH, NA, NAJ, NF, RN, WC, TNN, GS-N, JS-O, RS-N, owned, trained and handled by Mary deLamerens.  She has
done a wonderful job with this boy in the field, agility and obedience rings.  Congratulations Mary and Blitzen!  He is a brother to Ecco who is also
out showing the world what a Toller can do in performance events.  The parents to these great working dogs are Pete and Corrie.

3-22-2008  Aker earns his Novice Agility title!  What a great dog...it's not the biggest accomplishment until you know he has not seen an A-frame
or teeter for 5 months and only been in the weave poles twice in the last five months.  He had two sessions of classes a year ago, one run
through (minus the A-frame and teeter) the day before the trial, and he goes and finishes his title and makes it look easy!  He is so willing and
athletic, and I just appreciate his great attitude and teamwork.  Good boy, Aker!

3-9-2008  Ecco never stops!  She earned her UKC Championship with a Group placement and also qualifying in obedience at the same show,
earning a Total Dog Award in the process!  The next day, she ran in AKC agility and Q'd in all 3 Excellent runs
and got their first double Q (qualifying in both standard and JWW in Excellent B on the same day).  Her 3rd run was Excellent A FAST.  It was a
very difficult "Send".  Only 4 Excellent 20" dogs qualified.  Ecco not only did the send, but took first place!!  Wow, Ecco and Maureen, you never
cease to amaze!  Congratulations on this fine team!

3-9-2008  Nitro earns his UKC Started Hunting Retriever title with 4 straight passes!  He was handled by Paul Kartes and is owned by Michele
Berndt and Kathy Koebensky-Como, and is a son of Aker from the famous Aker/Madra litter.  Great job, Nitro and crew!

3-3-2008  Nitro passes 2 Junior Hunt tests...nice weekend for him, being a new daddy and getting to fetch birds!  I can tell you which of those
means more to him!  But we are very excited to hear how well he is doing, as well as very excited to see how his babies turn out!  Nitro is
NSDTRC/AKC CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar, son of our Aker and Cricket's daughter Madra.  He is owned by Michele Berndt and Kathy
Koebensky-Como and was handled to these field passes by Paul Kartes of Lakota Retrievers.  Good job to all involved!

3-2-2008  Corrie had her puppies!  Two girls and six boys, sired by NSDTRC/AKC CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar.  Pictures can be seen here

2-16-2008  Ecco goes Best of Breed at the Denver show!  She is Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again CD RAE AX AXJ OF OAP OJP TT WC VC, and
she also finished her Open Fast agility title the same weekend.  Well done as always, Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco!

2-10-2008  Nitro earns his US Club Championship with passes toward his UKC Started Hunting Retriever title.  He is the son of Aker and is
NSDTRC/AKC CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar, from the awesome litter with Can/Int'l CH Skylark Vermilion Madra Zev.  Nitro is also expecting his
first litter here with Corrie!  Congratulations Nitro, owners Michele Berndt and Kathy Koebensky-Como, breeders Vermilion kennel, and Paul
Kartes who handed him to the field pass!

2-2-2008  Blitzen earns his first Senior Hunter leg!  He is officially Skylark's Repete Adventure NA NAJ NF JH WC and is owned by Mary and Art
deLamerens.  He is a son of Pete and Corrie and he loves his field work!  Great job Mary and Blitzen!

1-25-2008  Corrie is pregnant!  Pups will be due early March, ready for homes in May just in time for summer!  Sire is a son of our Aker, from the
very successful litter with Madra (who is Cricket's daughter), CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar, called Nitro.  Corrie has produced some very
successful offspring, with titles and high success in the show ring, field tests, obedience, agility, rally, and hunting dogs and wonderful family
    pets.

1-20-2008  Ecco earns another title and a biggie...RAE!!  (Rally Advanced Excellent)  She is a Pete/Corrie daughter, just three years old, and
owned and trained by Maureen Baumtrog.  Officially her name is Skylarks Dejavu  All Over Again "Ecco" CD RAE AX AXJ NF OAP OJP CGC TT

1-2008  A new year and a new addition to our canine family...KICKS!  See her page here

1-6-08  WOW what a winning weekend at the Land O'Lakes Kennel Club dog show was had by Skylark dogs!  It is traditionally a show with high
Toller entries and this year was no different.  Skylark's Cause For Applause, "PJ", owned by Lauri Reiter, started off by going Winners Dog for
his first major, and sister Sam was Reserve Winners Bitch but Winners Bitch was another Skylark dog, Skylark Star's Case In Point, "Casey",
owned by Debbie Russell and this was Casey's second major!  She has been very consistent lately, never coming in worse than Reseve when
she has been shown.  Casey is a daughter of Nacho and Star.  The next day, PJ was again Winners Dog for his second major.  What a nice
weekend for this son of NSDTRC/AKC CH Reddog's Peerless Parker CD JH WC and Skylark's Witchy Woman.  And then sister Sam (Skylark's
Winning Colors) was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners, and this was Sam's second major as well!  With Casey getting Reserve winners to Sam
this time.  WOW!  And to top off the weekend, our Swedish import "Ray", NSDTRC/AKC CH Vildandens Radon Af Nischi WC, was BOS over two
other nice male Specials.  A great way to start the new year!

12-07  More reports of performance titles.  Blaze, daughter of Aker and Murphy and owned by Donna Murdoch can now add some new agility
titles to her name, so she is officially Skylark's Blaze of Autumn RN OA AXJ OF CGC.  She is turning into quite a good working dog.
Congratulations Donna and Blaze!  And Pete's son Chili, Vermilion Skylark Fiery Spice CD NA NAJ OAP NJP WC has added some agility titles as
well.  Great work Kathy and Chili!  Also another Pete son finished his AKC CH, he is CH U-CD Vermilion's LBM Jeb Stuart CD.  Nice job Lori and
    Stuart!

11-25-2007  More titles for Ecco!  She is now Skylarks Dejavu All Over Again CD RE AX AXJ NF OAP OJP CGC TT WC VC
O-NAC NCC WV-N C-BSA C-BTA C-BSLA although I can't say I understand all of those last ones!  Her ambitious owner is Maureen Baumtrog
and Ecco is also getting a few points toward her AKC Championship when she finds spare time to look pretty!  Well done, Maureen and Ecco!

11-24-2007  Chewy finished his AKC Championship today!  He is now CH Skylarks Spice Drop Kid (sired by Vermilion's Kid Cooper out of Can
CH Lennoxlove Encore at Skylark) and owned by Vicky Spice-Dalgren and Harold Dalgren.  Chewy is just under 13 months old and finished with
4 majors.  CONGRATULATIONS Chewy and Vicky!

11-11-2007  Jet and Vixen have been busy at an IABCA show this weekend!  Jet completed his International Championship and Vixen completed
her National Championship, with Jet going Best of Breed at three shows and Vixen was Best of Breed at one show.  Jet is IABCA Int'l CH Skylark's
Breaking'Mach One RN CGC and is owned by Sandie McMaines, and Vixen is IABCA Int'l/Nat'l CH Skylark's Crimson Encore RN WC CGC and
she is owned by Ryan McMaines and myself, and shown by Sandie McMaines.  Congratulations Sandie and Jet and Vixen!!

10-21-2007  Aker got his second Novice Agility leg with a 2nd place in the 20" Standard Nov B class.  Best of all he had a wagging tail and very
fun attitude about the whole thing.  He's had very little agility training but he takes it all in stride as he just loves to please!

10-20-2007  It's been a while, again, since I've updated.  I'm sure I'll have trouble remembering but I'll try.  Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco have
some new titles.  Ecco is Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again and she got her OAP and OJP titles as well as her TT (Temperament Tested) pass from
the American Temperament Test Society.  She passed with glowing comments from the judges and the passing rate for Tollers is not usually
very high (8 have taken the test, 5 failed) as it is not an easy test!  Great job Maureen and Ecco!  Ecco is also racking up the RAE rally legs and
it won't be long before she reaches that goal, too!   And Ecco's sister Vixen went to some UKC shows and is now a UKC Champion!  Vixen is
UKC/IABCA CH Skylark's Crimson Encore RN WC CGC and she is owned by Ryan McMaines and myself but shown in conformation by Sandie
McMaines.  Nice work, Sandie and Vixen!  Even better for Vixen, it's hunting season and she's been out with Ryan looking for pretty birds!  Not a
Skylark dog but sired by our Aker, "Nitro" (CH Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar) owned by Michele Berndt and Kathy Koebensky-Como and Jamie
Como finished his AKC Championship, making him the FOURTH Champion from that litter of five pups!  Very nice litter, with the fifth pup having a
WC and in a hunting home.  Nitro also made the cut as a Special in the US Club National Specialty in a huge group of Specials.  Another
conformation win goes to Skylark Star's Case In Point,  "Casey", owned by Debbie Russell and myself, and Casey got her first major at the
Wright County KC show.  Great to see another Star pup out there doing well.  Congrats Debbie and Casey!  From the home front, Sam
(Skylark's Winning Colors) went Best of Breed and got her first major at the Wright County KC show and then Becky's beagle, Vijam's Triple
Threat "Riley" also went BOB for a major!  It was a good day for me at that show!  Both Sam and Riley are such fun to show...they stop in perfect
position and have such great attitudes that we all have fun!  And lastly, Aker got his first agility leg with a first place in the 20" Nov B Standard
class!  Aker is a dog who loves to work whatever the job, so agility is new to him but he seems to enjoy it.

8-15-2007  Results are in for the parentage of our two-sire litter with Wren and Quincy and Ray.  It is allowed by AKC and DNA is done on each
puppy to determine the sire.  Click  HERE to see the answers.

8-4&5-2007  Several Skylark dogs had a good weekend at the Bismarck Kennel Club AKC show.  Sam (Skylark's Winning Colors) was Winners
Bitch for 2 points on Saturday, and then in the Bred-By Exhibitor Sporting Group she took a 4th place!  Even more exciting, Jean and Jon
Gravning's boy Quincy (SR NSDTRC/AKC/Can CH Skylark's Rowdy Riverdancer CDX WC VC ) got Sporting Group 4th!  Quincy was BOB all
three days.  Other Skylark dogs in the ribbons:  Skylark's Crimson Encore WC "Vixen" was WB on Friday and her sister Skylark's Dejavu All Over
Again CD RE OA OAJ NF NAP NJP WC O-NAC NCC WV-N "Ecco" was WB on Sunday.  Skylark's Breaking'Mach One "Jet" was WD and BOW on
Sunday.  And in the Rally ring, Ecco earned three RAE legs over the weekend...great job Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco!  Both Vixen and Jet
earned their Rally Novice titles, with Sandie McMaines handling Vixen and Jeff McMaines handling Jet (who got a 1st place with a score of 100
one of the days)!  Well done Sandie and Vixen and Jeff and Jet!

Not a Toller but exciting for me all the same...my daughter lets me show her beagle Riley and she got a Hound Group 3rd from the classes on
Sunday!  Riley is a born show dog and lots of fun, and the judge really liked her in the breed ring but it was still a nice surprise to place in
Group!  Riley is Vijam's Triple Threat.

7-28-2007  Ray passed the Working Certificate test so he is now a NSDTRC-USA Champion as well!  He did a great job, bringing the nice big
ducks back naturally to hand and this time his tolling was picture-perfect and he did well on the water birds as well.  So he is NSDTRC/AKC CH
Vildandens Radon Af Nischi WC (pending club approval of course) and we couldn't be more proud of him!  Thanks again to Anette Bjorgell for
allowing this boy to come all the way from Sweden to join our family!

Also passing the Working Test was a couple of Pete/Corrie kids...Maureen Baumtrog with Ecco, who is now Skylarks Dejavu All Over Again CD
RE OA OAJ NF NAP NJP WC CGC O-NAC NCC WV-N (whew, don't know how we'll keep up with this girl!), and Ryan McMaines with Vixen who is
now Int'l CH Skylark's Crimson Encore WC CGC!  Both of these high energy girls did great jobs in the field and I'm very proud of them and their
owners!  Aker (NSDTRC/AKC/Can CH Sienna-Red Navigator WC) passed the WCI on land the first day and on water the second day, but he'll
need to put it all together in one day to get the title.  His day will come and until then, we'll continue to have fun.  He loves field work and is such a
    willing worker!

7-8-2007 (sorry to be late in reporting) Blaze earned another agility title (AKC Open Jumpers)  and is now Skylark's Blaze Of Autumn RN NA OAJ
NF!  She is owned by Donna Murdoch and they sound like quite a great working pair!  Congrats on the new title and we'll look forward to many
new things to come with this pair!

7-27-2007  Oops!  My mistake in reporting Riot's litter...five girls and TWO boys, all are doing well and growing and getting cute and interactive!

7-12-2007  Riot has new puppies!  Five girls and one boy sired by Ray!  Pictures can be seen here

6-30-2007  Wren has new puppies!  Four boys and one girl!  Wren is a daughter of Aker and Star and we leased her for a litter.  Pictures can be
    seen here

6-24-2007  I got a chance to go to a Flyball Tournament and WOW what fun!  I now see why so many people enjoy this sport with their Tollers
(and all breeds and mixed breeds)!  Special to me was I got to watch three Skylark Tollers run, and all are Star's daughters.  Murphy (Skylark's
Fire Cracker FDCH-S) owned by Elizabeth Theesfeld,  Casey (Skylarks Star's Case In Point FDCH-S) owned by Debbie Russel, and Chive
(NSDTRC/AKC CH Skylark's Chive At Water's Edge WC FMCH) owned by Dan Rode.   I even got to get a close view of the activity (Thanks Dan!)
and would love to do flyball if there was enough interest around where I live (and more hours in the day, of course).  But it is great fun and I
would encourage anyone to check it out if it's in your area.  You can go to the website for the North American Flyball Association to see if there is
a team in your area http://www.flyball.org/

Much has happened since my last update, due to computer problems I've been slow to report all the great news.  Not in any special order, here
are some of the latest accomplishments and updates:  Skylark's Crimson Encore "Vixen" is now an IABCA International Champion, as she earned
three V1 ratings at the recent IABCA show she went to.  She is owned by Ryan McMaines and myself and was shown by Sandie McMaines.  Her
housemate, "Jet", Skylark's Breaking'Mach One, is now an IABCA Youth CH.  He is owned and shown by Sandie McMaines.  Good job Sandie
    and Vixen and Jet!
Some Pete and Aker kids have been earning some titles....Pimu is now a WCX!  And a Mexican CH when he completes his hip clearance.  He is
Vermilion's Fuego At Zibal CD JH WCX and is owned and trained by Birgit Steinich.  What a wonderful pair!  Pimu's brother Chili earned his WC!
He is Vermilion Skylark Fiery Spice CD NAP NJP WC and is owned by Kathy Gibson and myself.  Great job Kathy to venture into the field with
Chili!  Aker's talented daughter Hannah earned her WCI and AKC JH!  Hannah is NSDTRC/AKC CH Vermilion's Holy Hannah RN JH WCI and she
is handled by Kathy Koebensky-Como and owned by Dan Lind, Kathy Koebensky-Como and Jamie Como.  Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco earned
her first CH points at an AKC show in CO.  Ecco is a daughter of Pete and Corrie and her registered name is Skylarks Dejavu All Over Again CD
RA OA OAJNF NAP NJP CGC O-NAC NCC WV-N (phew!) and then Ecco got a 4-pt major reserve!  Great news Maureen and Ecco!  Ecco's
littermate got the 4-pt major!  She is Skylark's Ditto Megan Rose and she is owned by Henry Rhone and myself.  Well done Henry and Megan!
Pete and Corrie's son Truman earned his CGC and TDI.  He is Skylark's Summer Song TDI CGC and is owned by Bobbie Sweeney.  Great news,
Bobbie and Truman.  A son of Corrie and Cooper (Vermilion's Kid Cooper) is burning up the show rings!  Skylarks Spice Drop Kid, "Chewy",
owned by Vicky Spice-Dalgren and Harold Dalgren, at the tender age of 7 months, earned 13 pts and 3 majors toward his AKC CH in just two
show weekends!  WOW Vicky and Chewy!  And Aker's son Nitro, Vermilion's Hue Of Cinnabar, earned a major and a couple of major reserves
toward his AKC CH.  He is just filling out and boy can that boy move!  He is owned by Michele Berndt, Kathy Koebensky-Como and Jamie Como
and is shown by Kathy in the Bred-by class.  And our girl Sam got her first AKC pts and some reserves, and she is Skylark's Winning Colors.  Her
brother PJ also got a major reserve.  He is Skylark's Cause For Applause and he is owned by Lauri Reiter but she is nice enough to bring him to
    shows for me!  Thanks Lauri!

And news on the puppy front, we did a two-sire breeding with Lilly and Aker and Pete, but the boys were bred days apart and all the pups turned
out to be Aker's.  A very nice litter though and we are very happy with them!  We did another two-sire litter, this time by AI so both boys at the
same time, and Wren's pups were born 6-30-2007 so we'll have to wait a bit to see if we were more successful at getting pups from both males
this time.  For this breeding, Wren was bred to our Ray, and NSDTRC/AKC/Can CH Skylark's Rowdy Riverdancer CDX WC VC CGC "Quincy".
We hope for some nice pups from both boys!  And Riot is pregnant, due July 9, and she was bred to Ray.  (AKC CH Vildandens Radon Af Nischi)

4-29-2007  Lilly's pups are born!  Lilly is Skylark Vermilion Wink'N A Smile and she is a daughter of Can CH Jagador's Captain Slocum Sagewood
and AKC/UKC CH Skylark's Vermilion Pegasus CD, and we leased her for a litter.  Lilly had two boys and four girls and the girls all take after their
mom, flashy!  Pictures can be seen here

4-28-2007  Chili (Vermilion Skylark Fiery Spice CD NAP NJP passes the BRT in southern California!  Well done Kathy Gibson and Chili!  Chili
also earned his CD with great scores this spring and this team is one to watch for in the future!  Chili is a son of Pete and Bet.  Chili's brother,
Pimu (Vermilion's Fuego At Zibal CD JH WC recently earned his AKC JH title, so also a big congratulations to his owner Birgit Steinich as Pimu is
always trained and handled by his owner.  Pimu and Birgit make quite an impressive team!

3-18-2007  Sadly Cricket passed away from cancer.  She was over 12 years old and yet it seems just yesterday that she was a fluffy puppy full of
attitude and sharp teeth!  We miss her more than words can convey.  She was one-of-a-kind and we were so lucky to have shared her life with
her.  She left us with so many wonderful memories, and also made an impact with her children and grandchildren, and hopefully they will carry a
little of Cricket's spirit forward into the world.  Click here for an album of her life.

3-11-2007  Another Aker daughter finishes her AKC Championship!  That makes five pretty girls to finish in 10 months time!  This time it was
"Hailey", CH Vermilion's Hailey of Doxikota owned by Pam Bethke and the Comos.  She is from the successful "H" litter at Vermilion, out of
Can/Int'l CH Skylark Vermilion Madra Zev and bred by Vermilion Tollers, Kathy Koebensky-Como and Jamie Como.  Three girls (out of five pups)
have finished from this litter and the other two Aker daughters to finish Championships are out of Skylark's Genuine Risk "Star", who is Madra's
sister.  So this combination apparently works!  Hailey finished her Championship handled by friends of the owner, who had surgery that
prevented her keeping up with smooth-moving Hailey in the ring.  Judge Ms Margorie Martorella, who judged bitches at our 06 National,
remarked to the handler that she wished Hailey had been at the National, and that Hailey was a beautiful mover and they didn't come any
prettier!  Nice complements from someone who's had hands on lots of Tollers!

3-11-2007  OK, now I'm having trouble keeping up with this pair...Maureen Baumtrog and Ecco have added TWO MORE titles to Ecco's name!
Open Agility and Novice FAST agility!  They are really doing well in the performance rings.  We are so proud of this team!  Ecco is a daughter of
Pete and Corrie and her name is now Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again CD RN OA NAJ NF NAP NJP NAC CGC.  Whew, that's a long name!  Great
    news!

3-11-2007  Not Skylark dogs but relatives...Pete's daughter Foxy and Cricket's granddaughter Ginger earned their Companion Dog obedience
titles with placements.  This title will make Ginger a Rusty Jones Award winner and NSDTRC-USA Versatility Certificate holder!  Owners are Paula
and Mike Wortman.  Great job guys!  Official names are SHR Vermilion's Fox Fireopal CD WC "Foxy" and SHR NSDTRC/AKC CH Vermilion's
    High Roller CD WCI, "Ginger".

3-2-2007  WOW Skylark's Blaze of Autumn RN NAJ NF is on a roll with her agility!  Donna Murdoch and this daughter of Aker and Murphy went to
the huge Scottsdale AZ show/trial and Blaze earned her NAJ with placements and also her Novice FAST title both from the B classes.
Congratulations Donna and Blaze!  Blaze also earned her first Open Jumpers leg as well, with a 2nd place.  We'll hear more from this team, I'm
    sure!

2-25-2007  Skylark's Repete Adventure NA NF JH WC finished his AKC Junior Hunter title in 2 weekends, 4 tests in a row!  "Blitzen" and owner
Mary de Lamerens are a wonderful team and we are so proud of how well they are doing in all of their events!  Blitzen is a son of Pete and Corrie
and I just wish they lived closer so I could watch them work!  Well done, Mary and Blitzen!

2-18-2007  Blaze (Skylark's Blaze of Autumn RN) and Donna Murdoch earn their Rally Novice title with 2 first place in class awards!  Blaze is a
daughter of Aker and Murphy (Skylark's Fire Cracker FDX) and she is just over a year old.  Great teamwork Donna and Blaze!

2-18-2006 Skylarks Dejavu All Over Again CD RN NA NAJ NAP NJP CGC "Ecco" and her owner, Maureen Baumtrog, are finding new wasys to
add more letters after Ecco's name!  She finished her NAP and NJP agility titles this weekend and earned two RA legs!  What a wonderful team
this must be!  Great job Maureen and Ecco!  Ecco is a daughter of Pete and Corrie.

2-16 through 2-19-2007  WOW another from the fabulous Vermilion "H" litter is on a winning streak!  Vermilion's Hailey of Doxikota, owned by Pat
Bethke and Kathy Koebensky-Como and Jamie Como went to a four-show weekend in Denver and was WB/BOS over a Special for a major, then
WB for another major, then BW and Best of Breed over 2 Specials (under judge Ms Marjorie Martorella) for another major and topped off the
weekend with another BW/BB so this leaves her at 13 or 14 pts!  "Hailey" is a daughter of Aker and Madra, so a sister to Hannah and Cherry who
are AKC Champions.  What a great litter!

1-22-2007  Murphy earns her first flyball titles!!!  Murphy is Skylark's Fire Cracker FDX earned her FD and FDX titles this weekend!  She is one
speedy and ball-obcessed Toller and it took her a while to put it all together, but she finally did it and owner Elizabeth Theesfeld gets our
admiration for her patience and perseverance!  Murphy runs on the Happy Hurdlers team in the Minneapolis area.  Way to go Murphy and
    Elizabeth and team!

1-20-2007  Another daughter of Aker finishes her AKC Championship!  That makes four AKC CHs in a seven month period!  This latest
Champion is CH Vermilion's Hrt N Soul V Pride, call name "Cherry" and she is owned by Darcy Hudman and Kathy Koebensky-Como.  She
finished in a big way, with Best of Winners and Best of Opp Sex for a 5-pt major and finishing with 3 majors!  Great work Darcy and Cherry and
team!  Her mom is the great producer, Can/Intl CH Skylark Vermilion Madra Zev, who is a Cricket/Wager daughter so we are happy to have
played a part in her breeding on both sides!

2-3-2007  Chili (Vermilion Skylark Fiery Spice NAP NJP) and Kathy Gibson start their obedience career with a bang!  They earned a score of 198
(out of 200) and a 1st place in Novice B for their first leg toward their AKC Companion Dog title!  A great performance!  The next day, they
earned a 197.5 and another 1st place in Novice B!  Great job Kathy and Chili!  Chili is a son of Pete, and a brother to Riot.  I expect we'll hear
    more from this obedience team!

1-7-2007  History was made in the Toller breed as Blitzen and Mary deLamerens become the first Toller to earn the new AKC Agility title NOVICE
FAST!  Blitzen is officially Skylark's Repete Adventure NA NF WC and is from Pete and Corrie's second litter.  Blitzen and Mary went 3 for 3 in
this class of strategy and earned 1 1st and 2 2nd places.  Not bad when you consider this "new" class probably had many dogs with advanced
agility titles competing and Blitzen and Mary were still in the Novice class.  That weekend Blitzen Q'd 6 of 7 runs and also earned his 3rd leg for
his NA title with a clean run (100 pts) and 21.67 seconds under course time.  WOW!  Nice teamwork Mary and Blitzen!

Another sibling is also adding those performance titles to her name.  Ecco and Maureen Baumtrog have also been busy.  Ecco recently finished
her NA and NAJ titles so Ecco is officially Skylark's Dejavu All Over Again CD RN NA NAJ and Ecco also has one NF leg and one OA leg for her
agility titles.  Great work Ecco and Maureen!

A bit late to report but "Jet", Skylark's Breaking Mach'One owned by Sandie McMaines went to an IABCA International Show and earned the title
Youth Champion!  This was in October 2006.  He also won a Sporting Group 3rd one of the shows!  Well done Jet and Sandie!  Jet is the son of
Int'l CH Vermilion's Bets On Rueger WC and AKC/Can CH Skylark Chasing Rainbows.

1-6-2007 Quincy (SR NSDTRC/AKC/Can CH Skylark's Rowdy Riverdancer CDX WC VC CGC) has a big win at the Land of Lake KC show in St
Paul, MN.  He went BOB in an entry of 22 Tollers!  Well done Carrie Bush of Ambush Kennel (Quincy's friend and handler) and owners Jean and
Jon Gravning.  Quincy lives in central North Dakota and so it is not easy for him to get to lots of shows, and this was his first show in a year.
What a way to come back!  Pictures of this handsome son of Pete and Corrie can be seen here
Quincy found a love for hunting Canadian geese this fall and you can see some great shots of that at the webshots link  He is also an avid duck
and pheasant hunter.  There are some drawbacks to living in central ND but the benefit is lots of great hunting!  And I'm sure Quincy would
rather be hunting than going to dog shows any day!
